Which is which

This week I also learned a bit about watercolors. This is basically my first attempt, not too bad (if I say so myself). I tried to replicate a piece of fabric designed by Manuel Canovas. Short history: Manuel went to Beaux Arts de Paris and Beaux Arts Rome. He studied architecture, painting, drawing and archaeology. He founded his own French fabric house in 1963. Can you tell which is the fabric and which is the watercolor? Watercolors is another exercise in patience, yet very peaceful to do!

All in a days work

Here's what I did for part of the afternoon. White stoneware vases. I'm getting ready for a gallery showing. They're not fired yet-they're leather hard right now. Then off to the kiln for the Bisque firing. More to follow up. The next image is my "Shelf" in the studio. Things are stacking up-in a good way.

Charley Harper's Condominium, Bear, Red & Fed

Thanks to Todd Oldham, Charley Harper has another huge fan. I find Charley's work inspiring. He described his style as minimal realism, "I don't count the feathers on the wings. I count the wings." His work is so joyful and whimsical. Often times, the titles of his pieces revealed his sense of humor. Honestly, I have a hard time trying to figure out which of his images to represent him. Off-Broadway Theatre Show: Love Cures Cancer

Here's a little project I did for some good friends with love! The show is a one man play with three characters represented in the image. It was so refreshing to work in gouache instead of Photoshop.
